The Herb Geller Tribute Band presents a free concert on Saturday, October 21, at 7:30 p.m. at Rome Free Academy, featuring Herb’s former students, family, area music educators and professional musicians, and select current RFA and VVS music students. Conducted by John Flaver, Jr. and joined by associate conductor, Mike DiMeo. Pre-concert four-hands piano music by Jo Ann Geller and Bruce Smith. This concert celebrates the life of the late Herb Geller, an extraordinary musician and educator, and raises money for annual scholarships. The Herb Geller Memorial Scholarship Concerts Committee awards scholarships to graduating RFA and VVS high school seniors who pursue college degrees in music, drama or the arts. Herb was the band director at both VVS and RFA, and he worked with musicians at RFA for more than 20 years.
